Date Night with a Game Show
Thanks to the genius TikTok algorithm I found a local guide to fun things to do in or near Phoenix, AZ, which has been filled with great suggestions! The first video I saw was a recommendation to the Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria, AZ. Since we always love an evening show on our cruises it felt like the perfect date night.
Plus, in addition to the productions they offered a dinner option and they had a fully stocked bar for drinks throughout the night. We figured our first visit should include the full experience so we opted for the dinner and show ticket, and I am glad we did!
We arrived at the theatre house, and were already impressed with a surprisingly new building. We have low expectations for performances in AZ, so I assumed this would be a hole in the wall place (like a past visit the the Puppet Theatre down-town which was… interesting to say the least 🙂 ).
Once inside we checked in our tickets and were escorted to our reserved table for dinner and the show to follow. I always appreciate reserved seating so it doesn’t matter what time you show up, you know what to expect.
The tickets suggested arriving at 5:00pm for dinner, which we did, and later learned that we could come at any time between then and roughly 6:30pm and still would have time for dinner before the show started at 7pm. Honestly, two hours early was WAY to early for us and we will plan to arrive about 6pm going forward (spoiler there will be a next time!).
Just like the exterior, we were very impressed with the interior. Nice padded seats with fully set tables for dinner.
This is definitely a nice dinner or date night place, and we were glad we opted for business casual attire instead our normal shorts and a t-shirt.

We started off with drinks, which I already knew from earlier research we would love their creations. Our waitress confirmed that they create special drinks for each production so you always get a new an unique experience.
Nathan opted for the Jackpot (blue) which was definitely the better of the two drinks as a very boozy lemonade.
I opted for the Winner Takes All (orange) which had a little too much champagne for my liking but was still decent flavor with the peach puree.
Next came our appetizers which were really good! They had a selection of included options as well as a few paid for upgrades. Nan opted to upgrade to Deviled Eggs and I choose the included House Salad. Both were fantastic selections which we would repeat.

Last, we finished off our meal with Beef Kababs with a Teriyaki glaze and cheddar mashed potatoes.
There were multiple options but it sounded delicious to both of us so, as rare as it is, we both ordered the same dish.
Better yet, with no regrets! The beef was SOO tender and glaze was fantastic.
I am still truly shocked that our meal was as good as it was. Totally worth the reasonable price for the dinner option as part of your ticket.
We did opt out of desert though, which was only available at an added cost.
After dinner, we did have about an hour to kill so we enjoyed each other’s company and researched becoming members and purchasing season tickets to attend ALL the shows. We ultimately decided against it, as the cost benefit was all that great, but we will definitely still be returning to see the majority of shows. Funny enough, that was decided before the show even started!
As 7pm rolled around, it was time for the main event. We chose a show called ’Game Show’, where we were attending a ’live’ tv broadcast of the Game Show. Real audience members participated and then we were entertained by the behind the scenes drama on set.

Ultimately the show was entertaining, with a few unexpected twists, and we are happy went. Granted we probably wouldn’t repeat a similar show, just because audience participation is never something we enjoy as much as preplanned show. While they can be unpredictable, scripts are funny for a reason and I would rather not worry I am going to be called up throughout the show.
We learned before the show started that this was actually one of their shorter productions, only lasting 1.5 hours. Some of them last 2+ hours!
They did have intermission, and the theatre wasn’t super packed so there wasn’t a major rush during this time to try which was nice and relaxing. Those who ordered deserts, or for us another drink, had them delivered during this time which was also a nice break between the main course.
All in all, this was definitely one of our more favorite finds. Nathan is already looking forward to Happy Days which is their next production as well as the 2022-23 season shows which includes Monty Python, Christmas Carole, Wizard of Oz and more!
